Want to Wear a Bikini? Do This First!
If you want to get your derriere, legs and tummy in shape for bikini season, it's time to start exercising. The best exercise you can do is walk, says Erica Gragg and Melissa Perlman, authors of the new book, "Bikini Bootcamp: Two Weeks to Your Ultimate Beach Body." They told The New York Post you can have a taut tush in 14 days if you exercise, including daily cardiovascular and weight-lifting exercises that you can do from home, and watch what you eat.
Walking is key.
"A lot of people aren't used to walking every day, but it's the most underrated exercise, and you can do it anywhere" Gragg told Post writers Marina Vataj and Serena French. "Speed walk, let those arms swing and challenge yourself, and you will definitely see a change in your body." Although their program is intense, they promise anyone at any age can lose between 7 to 10 pounds. "You start by doing 15 minutes of yoga in the morning, followed by about an hour of walking and then about 40 minutes of circuit training that involves short cardio activities and core training," Gragg told the Post. "And you do this every day for two weeks straight, no exceptions."
Here's an exercise they recommend for your legs that you should do before your morning walk:
Facing a wall with your feet about one foot away and your palms resting on the wall at shoulder height and your elbows slightly bent, lift your left leg slightly to the side and rotate your toes to the left. With your toes facing left, left your leg up and back so it's about one foot from your body. Lower to the starting position and repeat for 30 seconds. Then switch to the right leg.
What is hot in bikini fashion this summer?
According to the New York Post, the triangle string and bandeau style tops are the most popular. Anything goes on the bottom--even boy-cut shorts and ruffled skirts. The hottest trends include flora and fauna prints, nautical stripes and details, plaid and gingham checks, and crystal trim and gold hardware.
